15th May 2008 KENT COUNTY COUNCIL ADMITS THAT FUNDING FOR CONCESSIONARY BUS SCHEME TO BEGIN AT 9AM IS AVAILABLE.
A report to Kent County Council’s cabinet this week has revealed that the necessary cash to fund a return to a 9am start time for the concessionary bus travel scheme IS available. The Government has provided councils in Kent an extra £4.5 million this year to meet the extra costs of introducing the new national concessionary bus scheme which allows free off peak bus travel across England.... 8th May 2008 NORTHFLEET ROAD STAYS OPEN - COMMON SENSE PREVAILS
At a meeting of the Highways Advisory Board of Kent County Council held on 8th May 2008 it was unanimously agreed to recommend to the Cabinet Member for Highways that a previous recommendation from Gravesham Joint Transport Board be overturned and that the newly built Hogg Lane /Downs Road be opened to vehicular traffic with a weight and physical width restriction. It was also recommended that the position be reviewed a year after the road is reopened.... MORE
7th May 2008 KENT TORIES REMOVE FIRE HEIGHT VEHICLE FROM GRAVESEND At a meeting of its Planning and Performance Committee on 6 May 2008 the Conservative majority on Kent and Medway Fire and Rescue Authority decided to remove the height vehicle from Thameside (Gravesend and Northfleet) Fire Station and place it in Medway Fire Station instead. This was done without the Committee being allowed to see the consultants’ report which allegedly backed this proposal. The Conservatives also refused to defer the decision so that the report could be read before a final decision at the June meeting of the Authority.... MORE
