Terry Birkett is an ex coal miner who was sacked during the Miners strike of 84/85 for his participation as a Union Steward. Married to Janet with a family of two daughters and three grandchildren. Terry has represented his community since 1979 both at District and County level.

Mike Eddy has been the Leader of the Kent Labour Group since 2001 and is Chairman of the Cabinet Scrutiny Committee. An archaeologist and linguist by training, he has served as a Non-Executive Director on NHS Health Authorities and has carried out inspections and reviews for the Audit Commission and IDeA. He is also a Dover District councillor representing the Mill Hill Ward in the Deal county division.

Bill Newman has represented Dover on the County Council for the last ten years and is a senior member of the Education Committee and before retirement he taught at Archers Court and Astor school in Dover. Following retirement, Bill was appointed as Deputy Lieutenant of Kent in recognition of his work for the community.

Eileen moved to Kent in 1967 with her husband who started working in the ferry industry. Elected to the Dover District Council in 1991 serving until 2003. Eileen was elected Mayor of Deal in 1994. Elected to KCC for the Dover North Division in 2005, Eileen has a particular interest in the coalfield community. Eileen is a Member of many organisations including the Co-op and Greenpeace.

Gordon is married with two children and four grandchildren; he is also a member of Dover Town Council with a particular interest in Tourism and Civic Twinning. Gordon worked for many years in Royal Mail and was actively involved in the Communication Workers Union. He and his wife Jeanette are registered foster carers and have looked after three children for Kent County Council.
