Kent Labour MP’s
MASSIVE INVESTMENT FOR EXTENDED SCHOOLS

Ed Balls, the Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families has announced a massive investment by the Labour Government of more than £1billion across the country for the extended schools programme over the next three years.

Labour Spokesman for Children & Families at KCC, Clive Hart, said, “This will mean that every child in Kent should be able to access breakfast clubs, out-of-hours tuition and after-school clubs in sport, music and drama with childcare, family learning and parental support, as well as quick and easy access to specialist services for children that should also be made available.

“Extended schools offer a range of activities including study support activities; wraparound childcare 8am – 6pm, all year round for primary schools; parenting and family support; swift and easy access to specialist services like speech
therapy, and community use of facilities including adult & family learning and
ICT”.
